France Wants Gab To Ban Thousands of Users

In recent days, Gab has faced direct challenges to our core mission of defending free speech. This past week we received demands from the governments of Australia and France ordering us to dox Gab users and ban a Gab group with thousands of members—all over content they deemed "offensive." We refused both requests.

These authoritarian overreaches highlight a critical truth: While free speech has seen historic victories in America, the battle rages fiercely across Western nations that lack First Amendment protections. Governments abroad are increasingly weaponizing "offensive" speech as a pretext to silence dissent and control online discourse. We stand with our French and Australian users as well as all of our users worldwide. 

At Gab, we refuse to comply with tyrannical demands to betray your privacy or censor your voices. We extend the First Amendment protections we cherish in America to users worldwide, because free speech is a right—not a privilege granted by governments. But we cannot do this without you. Every day, we fight legal battles, cover rising server costs, and defend against coordinated attacks to keep Gab alive. Your support directly fuels this mission.
