Empathy, in course development, refers to an educator’s ability to understand the problems, needs, and desires a group of learners faces through research and inquisition. An inclusive learning environment is one where all students feel academically and intellectually supported, feel a sense of belonging and respect, and do not feel closed off from the rest of their peers. This article aims to identify and describe ways that educators can create an inclusive learning environment while also crafting content that is empathetic to the needs of the diverse nursing student population.
