Having media converters in your network is an easy way to transfer the data beyond the 100-meter limitation of the copper port. It is often utilized in long-distance applications, for example, ITS system on a highway which can up to tens of kilometers from one point to another. Therefore, media converters serve as tools to reach long-distance and connect with different interfaces. But there follows an inconvenience along the long fiber cable, which is maintenance from afar. Driving two hours, all the way to the end device can cost you personnel, vehicle, and more.
Leonton introduces the patented “PRRT”, PD Remote Reset Technologies, which has been granted by the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economy Affairs of Taiwan. PRRT reactivates the media converter from the other side by simply unplugging and plugging back the fiber cable on the near media converter, making the remote rebooting possible and effortless. Now, we can troubleshoot the first round by using PRRT and deploy the field engineer after we knew the reboot does not fix the issue.
