THE FORGE PROCESS: PLAY IT S.M.A.R.T. If you've been struggling with finding your passion or purpose, this is your answer. Forge will help you create a personal vision and mission, and then break those down into something concrete.
S.M.A.R.T. GOALS "Smart" goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. Specific means there is a crystal-clear objective to pass or "fail". Measurable means there is some sort of way to track progress. Attainable means it is logically possible for you to reach success. Relevant means you're connected enough to this goal to stay passionate. Timely means there is a future date when this goal expires and needs to be reviewed.
EXAMPLES "Lose weight" is not specific or measurable. "Lose 15 pounds by Christmas" is both. "Spend more time with family and friends" doesn't meet the criteria. "Take a trip to Disneyland in September" does. "Become an astronaut in 1 year" or, "Hike Everest 3 months from now" are not
attainable. If you are a graphic designer, "Get hired on an oil rig in 30 days" is likely not relevant or exciting to you. And finally, "Write 1 book" meets all of the criteria except timely.
THE MISSING PIECE If you were given a blank sheet of paper right now, it might be difficult to start cranking out your long-term goals. The truth is, none of us really know where we are going to be 5 years from now. That's why Forge starts with something called Visioneering. We find your core values and build your personal mission statement. By following a larger mission, your goals and path can adjust while you remain completely satisfied and fulfilled. Below is the full Forge curriculum.
