Hello,
After I updated SDL Trados 2021 to the new version SR1 16.1.4.4184, the target language side mixes the translation memory somehow make it backward. The error affects both segments with tag or without tag. Is there any way to restore previous version or it can be fixed?

Hi all,
I just installed a suggested update on a perfectly functional SDL Trados Studio 2021 only to face a problem upon re-opening my projects: Arabic characters are messed up (letters are separate and do not make complete words). Below an example of what it looks like.

Studio 2021 won't open and I get a blank "error" message |

Hi, I get a totally blank error message when I open Studio 2021. It's just a box with the word "Error" in it next to a red cross. There's a picture of two disks in the bottom left corner. Initially I could open Studio OK and I only got the Error message when I tried to open a file that I've worked on already, but after closing Studio and reopening it, I now get the Error message immediately so it won't even open. Since there are no words in the Error message, I'm a bit stumped! I think I caught the words "not responding" flashing up at some point. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks! Hi,
the SDL TTS plugin sounds perfect for my vision problems (hopefully just temporary). I tried finding out whether I can actually use it and also Microsoft Azure. I have NDAs with my clients and am worried about sending translation source text or target text to the cloud (which Microsoft Azure is. How exactly does the process work and where is my data stored? How secure is that? Thanks for helping me with this.

The SDL TTS application uses the Microsoft Azure text to speech application and only create the UI between Studio and Microsoft.

Hello,
Last September I purchased a one year Freelance subscription. I've just bought a new computer and from now I would like to use Trados on this computer. I deactivated the subscription on my old computer, logged out, then downloaded Trados on my new computer, successfully logged in and then tried to activate my subscription there... but it doesn't work (it says that my account has reached the maximum amount of registered devices for the subscription). What should I do? Help me please! |

Hello,
Update: i removed the old computer from the list of devices on my Language Cloud account. I thought it would work but now I get another error message: "The license key is not valid for this device. Try again with a different license or contact your cloud administrator". I don't understand... I don't even have a license, since i have a subscription. Can anyone help me? I really need it to work asap as I have lots of work to do. :-( |

SDL Trados Studio installs by default to the C drive.
However, it is possible to install to a different drive as explained here

I get the message "broken uncompressed block" at package opening, I don't know what to do... The translation is a prospectus update so I cannot just recreate the xliff from the source text, I don't have the TM to avoid retranslate everything. And of course I just discovered it and the due date is Monday 10:00 am... Thank you by advance for your help. |

Hello!
I get the following message while opening one of my files. I use Studio 2021 and Windows 10. The source file is docx. The document has some comments (I do not want to lose them so starting a new project and retrieving the translation from the TM is not the solution I would be happy with, as the comments would be lost). Opening the file in PSPad (text editor) I can see the line number mentioned in the error message is the number of the last line. Oddly, a part of the message is in English language (the language used in Studio) and a part in Polish (system language). The last part of the message reads something like "can't refer to a key".

I can export the target and update the TM.
Can anybody tell me what this message really meant? Should I bother about that? |

Should it be considered a Studio bug? The segments have been merged / split in the Studio, the XLIFF file was not edited externally, nor the corresponding source and target language files. I assume Studio has incorrectly saved the information about merged / split segments and the Studio itself reports the error. Am I right in thinking in this way?
Regarding the repairing the sdlxliff file, I rather thought about a "repair" function in or outside the Studio. |

I am not sure if we unexperienced user can repair the sdlxliff. However, my experience so far shows no problem with validation switched off.
And the origin indeed points to a merged paragraph. So this is certainly the cause. Some tags inside can also cause problems. |

I merged some segments but I don't think I have merged across paragraphs.

I assume the mid="68" fragment means there is something wrong with the segment No 68. However, I do not have segment 68 - it has been probably merged or split. (I have: 66a, 66ba, 66bba, 66bbb, and then 71.)

I have TRADOS 2014. I have not used it for a while (12 months or so) and when I recently tried to open it, I got the following error
System.Management.ManagementException, System.Management,
I tried the following suggestions posted already on the webiste
a) Deactivating NORTON, MCAFEE
b) Uninstalling TRADOS and REINSTALLING IT
But the error persists. Now NORTON too is not working, the error there being 8054 101.
Can you please help me get TRADOS to work? I really need it for a project.

I would like to be able to review only a certain percentage of a translation in Trados, e.g. 10% of a text. Is there an app or a plug-in that can extract or indicate a sample of the translation, according to a certain chosen percentage? I am using SDL Trados Studio 2019.

This started happening with SDL Trados Studio 2021 SR1 - 16.1.4.4184.
Let's suppose we have an entry in AutoCorrect where one character is set to expand to a word.
In this example, the letter γ is set to expand to γιατί.
Now, normally when typing a shortcut, for the expansion to trigger one has to hit Enter. This is not the case now. And not only that, but let's say I want to type the word για, it will be expanded to γιατί causing havoc. You can watch the video.

Hello.
After applying the the latest Trados Studio 2021 update, I've encountered errors in the application which did not appear previously. Namely, the app wouldn't pre-translate and analyze files in new projects throwing the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". マークダウン(md)ファイルを読み込み、訳文のみで保存するとレイアウトが崩れてしまいます。比較してみるとスペースなどが削除され、そのため表が表示されていないようです。
Tradosの設定で解決できる問題でしょうか?

- please provide a small sample markdown file that contains only a section of text tat behaves this way so we can test

I have worked for the translation agency as a Manager.
So, it's very common work for us to translate the English XML to other multiple languages using translation memories.
In most cases, everything seems fine, but sometimes, the handling of sentences with various number would be problem.
For example, the full stop is used as decimal point in English, like "1.5". However, in some European languages, comma is used as decimal point, "1,5".
Of course, in our TM, some segments are stored with correct symbol. But there are also some segments with misuse of symbol.
Therefore, there would be some possibilities to misuse those symbols during generating multiple language XMLs.
To avoid this, whole PMs and ones using translation memories should learn the language specific rules, and we handle about 70 languages.
In other words, those who using translation memories should check the 70 rules to avoid the issue.
But, it's really difficult and inefficient to memorize whole language specific rules, I think.
So, I wonder there are any solutions to solve the issue. It would be very nice if I could apply proper symbols during generating multiple language XMLs.
Or also nice if I could found those issues during QA sessions and revise it before finalization.

I am not sure what all you want to do, but one way would be to scan your TMs for segments that use the wrong decimal separator and correct them. This can be done as a batch operation, if you trust your regex skills enough:

If you find that a bit too risky, you can use the Regular expression module of the QA Checker to alert the translator when a number format was entered that is wrong for the given language. You can define these rules either globally (for all languages) or language-specifically. Can't use AutoHotKey Manager |

Hi guys
I just spent a couple of hours to start looking into AHK and am super keen to start using it to the max in Studio.
Among other scripts, I'd very much like to use the script that Nora Díaz shared on https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/autohotkey/24878/enhanced-replace-operation-to-go-back-to-originally-active-segment to save time with the Find & Replace function.
I've installed AHK as well as the SDL AHK Manager plugin, but I'm a bit clueless at this point as to how I can start using it.
On https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/w/customer-experience/3171/autohotkey-manager-ahk we're told:
"Before installing the plugin please make sure you download and install this from the Microsoft page."
However, clicking on the "this" link gives you a 404 error page saying "We're sorry, this download is no longer available."
What was the link supposed to download? Perhaps it can be downloaded elsewhere?
I ended up installing the AHK Manager plugin, but now (perhaps because I haven't installed what I'm supposedly supposed to install before installing the plugin) when I click on the "AutoHotkey scripts" button, the "AutoHotkey Manager" window opens, but as soon as you hover over it and want to click something, it disappears into the background. Rather strange behaviour...
If anyone could help out on this one I'd very much appreciate it! |

As Nora Díaz noted you don't need these apps to be able to use AutoHotKey. However, I'm glad you pointed this broken link out. It looks as though Microsoft have stopped supporting this so I'll have to check with the development team on Monday and see if they can do something different. I did test the app quickly and it seems to work on my machine without this script. I'm fairly certain this laptop is newer than the app and I don't think I played with this on here yet. But I'm not sure so will check.
I also found the file that used to be on the Microsoft site here:

But I can't be 100% this is correct. I think it's probably ok, but can't be sure. So install it at your own risk!

I don't have any advice regarding the AHK Manager plugin, but while you wait for this to be resolved, here's how you can start using the scripts you will find in the AutoHotkey forum:
Since you've already downloaded AutoHotkey, what you need to do now is create your script files and then run them. Follow these steps:
To use an existing script:
1. Save the *.ahk file to a folder in your computer. Double-click to activate it.
2. Now that the script is active, press your hotstring or hotkey to trigger the actions in the script.
To create a new script:
1. Go to a folder in Windows Explorer where you would like to save your script (I have a folder called AutoHotkey Scripts just to keep them all in one place). Right-click on an empty space in the folder and select New -AutoHotkey Script. Name your script and save it.
So far, you have the empty "skeleton" of a script. Now you need to enter the actions you want it to execute.
2. Right-click on the script and select Open, then open it with a text editor, such as Notepad (I prefer Notepad , available for free).
3. Once the file is open, you will see that there's already some text in it. Paste the script code below the existing text in a new line. 4. Save the file. Now double-click the file, and this will load the script. Look for a green square with a white H in it in your system tray, which indicates that the script is active.
5. Now that the script is active, press your hotkey to trigger the actions in the script.

Hello,
My Studio 2019 is becoming completely unusable. When I try to move from segment to next segment by ctrl enter (confirm plus move to next), the program freezes and stops working. This happens lately on most segments. (Lookup often takes forever too even with small memories). Disabling memories - any memory or even all memories - does not help. Restaring the application or the computer does not help. Closing all other applications to free up memory does not help. The document itself is not large, no graphics or anything. The problem did not appear suddenly, but is getting worse gradually. Otherwise the computer is fast and all other applications work without problems. Any Advice?

Thank you for reaching out as I hear what you are saying. SDL Trados Studio freezing as you move from segment to segment is just not sustainable.
Thank you for confirming that you already tried to see if was linked to TM's/other applications. I take it does not even matter what document you have open, as you did say its gradually getting worse (so I assume its not linked to a specific document)
What would recommend you try is the following:
General Desktop State
- Check if your UAC is disabled

- See if SDL Trados Studio is not been blocked/restricted by your antivirus (ideally it should be an exception

- Reset SDL Trados Studio to default settings

Hello Community,
we are experiencing some issues installing the Amazon Trados plugin ver 2.11. When installed on some Trados Installs it says "Error. This key is already used", even if this is a just new API key specific for one user with its proper ID and password.
We tried updating Trados 2019 to latest R update, reinstall it, repairing it, resinstalling the plugin for every doman machin or just the user.
No changes
Any ideas?

Hello!
When I click on the "Connect to SDL Language Cloud" green button located in the upper right corner within SDL Trados Studio 2017 Freelance, a "spinning star" appears and keeps on spinning after I enter my email and password -- but nothing else happens.
Is it possible to access SDL Language Cloud with the same account/subscription used to access SDL Machine Translation Cloud within Trados Studio? Is there a nuance that escapes me?

The issues you are experiencing are most likely due to the change of email address.
I see that a new account was created recently (no licenses) so when you try to connect then LC doesn't recognise your account.
Please drop me an email (swhale@sdl.com) with the correct email address, and i will update your (correct) account.
Then we can log a support ticket for you to have the changes made in LC and enable login again.

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry if mine seems a bit late… I live in Canada, so there is a six hour time-zone difference between our locations.
No, I have not been able to fix the issue.
It all started when I changed my email address a few days ago. At first, I wasn’t even able to use the SDL Machine Translation Cloud within Trados Studio.
I had to reinstall Trados Studio, and then one of your support engineers set it up for me during a remote session. Everything works fine now, except for this connection problem which I discovered after the remote session had ended...
I also discovered that whenever I click on the Language Cloud icon at the bottom of the Home page in Trados Studio, I get an error message on my account page online (see the attachments).
Oddly enough, your reply was sent to my old email address…
Is it possible that my old email address has not been replaced with the new one in your servers – hence the connection glitch?

I own a trados licence on a SDL account i owned many years ago.
Last purchase was then Trados 2019 freelance. Since I moved and changed my data, I am not able to log in to that account or identify myself into it.
So far I had no problem because I have all old files and licenses on my computer.
I upgraded onto Antidote 10 and I would need the add-on for the last version. It is written free of charge, so I created an account to download it. Now it says that I cannot download it because I do not have any trados on this account.
Could you provide me the link to the antidote 10 add-on without having to make a purchase of trados? I already have trados even it not the old account. And since I moved credentials have changed.
I would be glad if you could help on this one.

MT Enhanced Plugin for Trados Studio |

Since the new Version I get an error report for my Microsoft key although that key works fine in MemoQ and in all Trados versions before the App update.
It is the same problem I have read About here with Google machine (same app)- but Google works fine with this Plugin.
The error message for Microsoft engine appears after some fields were done.
I deactivate Microsoft then and work without it.
Any solution?

That was only a short time solution.
Now the error starts again. The text is
"Beim Verwenden der Übersetzungsquelle MT Enhanced using Microsoft Translator ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.. The request is not authorized because credentials are missing or invalid"
But the credentials are the same I use in MemoQ with success and with the test in Trados and in the same file 2 hours ago and with about 10 fields it worked.
Any idea?

I am told that the key does not work. But when I tried to reproduce the message today there was no message. I have changed nothing but have restarted Trados 2021 today with a new job. Will keep you advised when it occurs again.

I am setting up a new project on Trados live. I am told to use the (default language processing rules) option to create the translation engines. But the drop down menu does not have this option at all. It only has this folder only/ this folder and above. Also the filed template does not have any options. Am I missing something?

Can you elaborate a little please? I'm wondering if the problem you are having is using the most intuitive dropdown which is presented from your browser when you click into a field like this:

Sometimes the options are correct, but they are coming from your browsers auto-select (or whatever that feature is called...). The place to really select for sure is here:

Note the difference... you see the full set of options when they actually come from Trados Live.
This may not be your problem, but perhaps you can explain it now and remove my confusion? |

Is anyone currently having these issues with the SDL Language Cloud Online Platform?
I'm having trouble with the SDL Language platform. It is not translating all of the segments and I am missing visualization options. For instance I no longer have the green check on the right for a translated segment, and I also do not have any preview capabilities.
I am using chrome, and have also cleared the cache/cookies.
Does anyone have a solution? Thanks again.

Language Cloud termbases -- what's with the check box in front of termbase names? |

In the Help text for Editing termbases, this is step 6: "Select the check box corresponding to the termbase whose details you want to edit, and then select Edit."
No. If I select that check box, the only thing I can do is delete or refresh the termbas. To edit (and in fact to select any of the other buttons above the list of termbases), I must NOT select the check box but select (click in) the row of the termbase name.
If I select the check box, the only actions available are Refresh and Delete. But they are available as well when I have selected the row. So what's the point of the check boxes? |

Creating file type from IOS App strings file |

I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong here. Initially what I used below worked well, the only issue was that it didn't pull some text from 1 of 5 files. Now the client has added some new strings to the file that was already translated. When I do a preview of the new file all I see is the target text in the source area and none of the English untranslated strings show up. I created a new file by removing the strings that were already translated, preview the file, and nothing shows. I'm baffled as to why this worked a couple weeks ago and now it's not.
This is what I used initially and it worked well for the most part: Opening pattern: "[^"]*"\s*=\s*"(?=[^"]*"\s*;) Closing pattern: "\s*; Multiline: False

In this case you've got some work to do first! The regex delimited filetype we have is monolingual and not bilingual. So this means that for the expressions you are using the translatable text needs to be between the quotes now. Then the filetype will extract it and replace it when you translate it.
So your options are these:
- ask your customer if they can provide the file with the translatable text in the right place now, OR
- use a bit of regex magic in a decent text editor to copy the translatable text into the right place, OR
- engage a developer to create a filetype to handle these sort of files
The 3rd one is sensible if you get a lot and it's repetitive work from this customer. The investment would soon pay for itself and it's probably fairly trivial for a competent developer so may not be too expensive either.
The 2nd one will take some work as you'll need to identify all the attributes containing the translatable text for your regex rules. You have three segments here and each one uses a different attribute in a string containing several attributes. So no simple consistency to rely on UNLESS it's always the 2nd attribute in that row, in which case a single rule would do it for you.
The first one... clearly the most economical... all depends on your relationship with, and the capability of, your customer.
Another option might be Passolo... Achim Herrmann would know better. |

If the sample text you provided is a real example representative of the file then perhaps the problem is that there is no translatable text in these strings based on that pattern? You are picking out text from within these quotes:

I am trying to debug some TermInjector regular expressions, but I am not sure which flavor it uses exactly. The manual says "Posix", but RegexBuddy offers Posix BRE and Posix ERE, which differ quite a lot. Is one of them actually the flavor of TI or is there yet another one? Does anybody know? Maybe Tommi Nieminen?

Thanks for the response - yes, I am using TermInjector for tasks where the target always needs a certain type of reformatting or simple changes have to be made again and again and again. I find it very useful. I point it to the project TM, so that it stays up do date with its suggestions, and I edit the regex file as I go.
I don't have a specific debugging issue now, but I was looking for a way to test my regex in general. I am used to the PCRE and .NET flavors, and to RegexBuddy's and PowerGrep's custom Powergrep 5 flavor, which is the best of them all. I would like to find a way to do my regex checks like I do for Studio (.NET) or PowerGrep.
If I had a wishlist for TermInjector, it would be that it runs on a standard regex flavor (.NET would be best since Studio uses the same) and that it auto-updates the settings (setting file change will automatically trigger update of rules used), since it's quite cumbersome to tweak at the moment.
I would write an updated tutorial or manual if you want - I am going to do that anyways for inhouse use.

Cool to hear that someone is still using TermInjector. I made the program very early in my programming career, so I made some questionable design choices. One of them was implementing a custom regex engine with just a subset of POSIX regex functionalities (only the ones listed here: http://www.tntranslations.com/TermInjectorHelp.html). The custom regex engine is based on finite-state machines, so it's theoretically super-fast when processing a big list of regexes, but I don't think anyone's ever really needed that speed. I have been working on a new version with .NET regexes, but other work keeps interfering.
What's the debugging problem you are having, maybe I can help?
