Today’s Campbell County Weekday Update leads with the groundbreaking for the new Campbell County Public Safety complex, where police, emergency management, dispatch and the coroner’s office will be brought under one roof. The rest of the update includes, spring cleanup details, Grand Avenue traffic changes, Heroes Day coverage, school and library updates, local programs and community events across Campbell County.

Campbell County breaks ground on new public safety facility

For the first time, Campbell County’s police, office of emergency management, dispatch center and coroner’s office will all be under one roof. Campbell County held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the new Campbell County Public Safety complex, a 58,000-square-foot facility at 1114 Racetrack Road in Alexandria. The total site is over 17 acres and will include the office complex and a garage facility.

Ovation Office Space Offers Riverfront Views in Newport

Ovation has 39,359 square feet of office space available for lease in Newport. The Class A office building is part of a 25-acre riverfront development with homes, hotels, retail, entertainment and views of downtown Cincinnati.

Campbell County spring cleanup event is back

The Campbell County spring cleanup event is returning May 8 and 9. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at three locations, including the Campbell County Road Department at 1175 Race Track Road in Alexandria, Frederick’s Landing at 100 Frederick’s Landing in Wilder and Pendery Park at 4113 Williams Lane in Melbourne.

Campbell County Mayors and Fiscal Court will meet Tuesday, April 28, at the Campbell County Administration Building in Newport. The meeting is for information only, and no action will be taken.

Grand Avenue Traffic Switch and Ramp Closures Start Friday

Crews will begin a new phase of work Friday, May 1, on Grand Avenue in Campbell County as part of a road repair project from Pavilion Parkway to just past Churchill Drive. Ramp closures, sidewalk limits and a two-week traffic switch are expected as crews move work to the westbound lanes.

Detention Center Staff Take Part in Heroes Day

Campbell County Detention Center staff joined other public safety agencies Sunday for the 2026 Heroes Day at Campbell County Middle School. The event included live demonstrations, emergency vehicles and a helicopter for families to see up close.

Northern Kentucky SWAT attended Heroes Day on Sunday, April 26, at Campbell County Middle School. The event gave families a closer look at public safety equipment, training and the work of first responders across the region.

Campbell County Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing Near Echo Hills Drive

Campbell County Police are investigating a deadly altercation that happened early April 26 near Echo Hills Drive and Licking Pike. Police said one man died from his injuries, another person was hospitalized in stable condition, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

TradesNKY and Campbell County Schools have launched a new partnership to grow career paths for students, including work on a regional manufacturing pathway. The effort connects classroom learning with real-world experience from elementary school through graduation.
